Change is Everyone’s Responsibility!
Episode: 25
Episode 25: ‘Change is Everyone’s Responsibility!’
For years, organisations have treated change as something that belongs to a specialist team. There are change managers, change programmes and change initiatives, all designed to help the rest of the business navigate transformation.
Caroline Le Grand believes that way of thinking has reached its limits.
As Global Change Management Lead Caroline has led transformation programmes across international organisations and worked across different countries and cultures. That breadth of experience informs a simple but compelling argument: change can no longer only sit with a dedicated team.
Just as quality is no longer the sole responsibility of the Quality Department, change has become everyone’s responsibility. Every team needs to adapt, every manager needs to lead change in some form, and the change team should orchestrate activities providing the conditions so that every employee has a part to play in whether it succeeds.
Throughout the conversation, Caroline returns to the conditions that make change possible. People are far more willing to experiment, contribute ideas and take risks when they trust that mistakes will be treated as opportunities to learn rather than reasons to retreat. She shares practical examples of inviting employees into the process through prototypes and short feedback sessions, demonstrating how small conversations can have a significant impact on adoption.
Another thread running through the discussion is the shift from managing change to enabling it. Rather than owning every activity, change professionals increasingly become facilitators, equipping others with the methods, tools and confidence to lead change within their own teams.
This isn’t simply a discussion about change management. It’s about rethinking who owns change in organisations where transformation is no longer an occasional project, but a permanent reality.
